The Opportunity:

We are building a new team of Data Product Partners to bridge the gap between business needs and complex data systems, ensuring our data assets are trustworthy, discoverable, impactful and truly solve user problems.

As a Data Product Partner (DPP), you will be the driving force behind the impact of our data team with the Perk business. You will move fluently between business and data worlds, making critical decisions rooted in both user needs and technical reality. Your goal is to move beyond simply providing solutions to proving demonstrable business impact.

  • Role Title: Data Product Partner

  • Reporting To: Manager, Data Product Partner

  • Core Mandate: Be the primary data consultant, fixer, strategist, and relationship manager for a specific business domain (e.g. Customer Care, Finance, Marketing, Revenue, Spend & Control, Travel)

  • We are open to either Regular or Senior profiles

What You’ll Do:

Relationship Management and Strategy

  • Develop Business Data Strategy: Collaborate with business leaders to define how data can drive their strategic goals, solve critical challenges, and uncover new opportunities

  • Identify and Qualify Value: Proactively identify high-impact use cases and data initiatives that will generate maximum measurable value (e.g., revenue increase, cost reduction, efficiency gain) for the partner business unit

  • Act as the primary translator across all disciplines, explaining the same concept differently to different data team roles and executives

  • Proactively manage expectations and define the appropriate scope and flexible roadmaps

  • Develop Product Sense for Data, anticipating common data quality issues, recognising when simpler solutions are better, and strategically saying "no" to requests that compromise our aligned vision

  • Publicise and amplify the work that has been done to drive adoption of and learning from our solutions

  • Coach teams to be able to self serve their own preliminary investigations

Demand Shaping and Portfolio Management

  • Focus on defining what to build and why (Data Product Partner) rather than how (AE/ DA/ DE/ DS/ DG). Ensuring that we built the right thing - vs the Data Team Lead owning did we build the thing right

  • While the Data teams own the timeline estimates, the DPP defines the urgency, the required business target date and the prioritisation, which then influences how the Craft team approaches the estimate

  • Shape and Prioritise Demand: Work with business stakeholders to clarify their data needs, translating vague requests into well-defined, measurable projects and technical data requirements that can be handed over to the Data Teams

  • Manage the Business Unit's Data Portfolio: Oversee the pipeline of data projects, data products and initiatives relevant to their business unit, ensuring alignment with capacity and strategic priorities. Work closely with Data teams to evaluate technical tradeoffs with potential business impact

  • Conduct Value Realisation Tracking: Continuously monitor and report on the actual business outcomes and ROI delivered by completed data projects and products

Ad-Hoc Analysis, Triage & Intake Management

  • The Data Product Partner is the first line of response for data questions from the business and plays a critical role in determining the right level of effort and ownership

  • Conduct initial ad-hoc analysis where appropriate, including lightweight SQL queries, exploratory analysis in Looker as well as quick validations, sanity checks, and hypothesis testing

  • Use this initial analysis to answer simple, time-sensitive business questions directly, clarify the underlying problem and assess feasibility, data quality, and potential impact

  • Triage and prioritise ad-hoc requests by determining whether the request can be resolved quickly vs. requires deeper analytical or engineering work. Escalate and hand over well-defined requests to Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science or Data Governance when needed. Provide clear context, urgency, and success criteria to downstream teams

  • Actively identify recurring ad-hoc requests that indicate a gap in existing dashboards or data products, a need for improved data quality, documentation, or enablement or an opportunity to convert reactive work into scalable data products

Consultation and Enablement

  • Provide Data Consulting: Offer expert advice to business stakeholders on data availability, appropriate methodologies, and the interpretation of data insights

  • Drive Data Literacy and Adoption: Champion the use of data tools and insights within the business unit, coaching teams on how to effectively integrate data into their daily decision-making processes

  • Proactively surface observations, trends, or risks as nuggets of insight

  • Bridge the Data-to-Action Gap: Ensure that insights are clearly communicated, translated and embedded into concrete business actions and process changes

  • Ensure that the pain points of Data Quality gaps are identified and prioritised within the Data Team
